A company-sponsored CDL is also known as Free CDL Schooling, where your CDL training is sponsored by the company that has hired you. In return, you either pay the company on a monthly basis from the salary you earn or you are obligated to a contract for a certain period of time.
The requirements may vary from company to company, but company-sponsored CDL training is quite common when it comes to truck driver jobs.
Company Sponsored CDL vs. Private CDL Training
The decision to choose between private CDL training or company-sponsored CDL training is entirely up to you. If you can afford private lessons then there is no harm in getting them done through this method. However, if you are unable to afford to do this yourself or you want to be trained as per the company’s requirements, then it is a good idea to get company-sponsored CDL training.
Some companies even run their own CDL training courses, giving you training for the exact tasks you will be executing for them. In addition, some companies may also require you to complete their sponsored training even if you have previously taken CDL training.
Note that some companies also put up CDL training as part of their overall training program. If the candidate passes, he or she gets the job. Therefore, having prior training experience will always be beneficial since it will increase your chances of getting the job.
